Yana Sorokin holds a Master’s degree in Plant Ecology and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Prior to joining LWOG, she worked on research projects to study the impacts of climate change on plant communities from Alaska to Costa Rica, and most recently she worked at an environmental consulting firm. Yana grew up exploring the lakes, rivers, and forests of Minnesota, but always wanted to live near the mountains. Yana joined LWOG is 2016 and is responsible for managing river restoration projects and helping to set up a long-term stewardship program. As a Longmont resident, she is thrilled to be working with her community to develop restoration and resiliency solutions for Left Hand Creek. When not working, Yana enjoys hiking, biking, and canoeing with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
